Plants in Literature

This garden is home to 300+ plants mentioned in Chinese literature including Shi-Jin and Chu-Ci. Before plastic tools were mass-produced, plant was widely-used thus entwined with human life closely in the old days. As a result, intellectuals often integrate plants in their literary work. Studying the morphology and ecology of these plants as well as what they signify is a great way to explore the wits of the ancient scholars and appreciate the wisdom of our ancestors and the natural world they lived in.
