Succulent Plants Garden

Succulent plants are plants that store water in their enlarged fleshy leaves, stems, or roots. The enlargement is usually due to the greater amount of the parenchyma tissue, for examples: Crassulaceae, Agavaceae and other 30 families. Although all plants store water, succulent plants are especially adapted and use their hollow bodies to store water for long periods.
This allows them to survive in arid or cooler environments. They come from deserts, seashores or other places. Succulence is a feature of convergent evolution, such as 20 meters tree-like heights with stem and leaves. The cactus can be cylindrical, round, moon-shaped and adherent type of shapes. The rainy season in the desert is short and provides little water; therefore, succulent plants have to absorb and to store water.Succulent plants have long widespread roots and were converted into areoles and spines to reduce water loss, to contain moisture and to protect the plants.
This family includes about 500-600 species in around 18 genera, and is widespread in the tropical and subtropical zones. In general, Agavaceae leaves occur as rosettes at the end of a woody stem, which may range from extremely short (like shrubs) to tree-like heights. The leaves are parallel-veined, and usually appear long and pointed, often with a hardened spine on the end, and sometimes with additional spines along the margins. Agave species are grown in arid America; most species bloom once only and die after floral season. They are used to make pulque, while others are valued for their fibres.
Liliaceae included a great number of genera like Euphorbiaceae, but all in herbs. The succulent plants are majority in Veratrum. The petal and calyx look alike and from the perianth. The perianth is the same amount as stamen. Those succulent plants in the Liliaceae are grown in Africa state or surrounding for around 700 species.
Euphorbiaceae occurs in the tropics and subtropics with 300 genera and around 7,500 species. The range in height from small like herbs to height like shrubs and part of species in tropical Africa are succulent plants. Those succulent plants are belonging to Euphorbia. The surface with spines is similar to cactus but the pines are fromed by cutis or dried peduncles. The genera Euphorbiaceae shows a highly specialized form of inflorescence called a cyathium. This is usually a small cup-like orcampanulate involucre consisting of peripheral horseshoe-shaped nectarines surrounding a ring of male flowers, each a single stamen. In the middle of the cyathium stands a female flower; a single pistil with branched stigmas. This whole arrangement resembles a single flower. Sometimes, a big colourful bract surrounding outside of cyathium makes confusions with petal, such as: Euphorbia milii.
The crassulaceae includes over 1,500 species in 35 genera worldwide and could be found in herbs and shrubs. The appearance with fleshy stem and leaves, corymb or panical inflorescence, follicle fruit, seeds are smaller then dust, the arrangement of leaves and shape is highly ornamental. The leaves present a range of colour depending on temperature and angle of sunshine. It is popular used for horticulture.
Cactus is native in tropical America and to a lesser extent Africa; from the seaside to mountains over 4000 meters; mainly in arid environments. The visible characteristic feature is the enlarged stems, which store water and provide photosynthetic functions. Their leaves have evolved into spines, which in addition to allowing less water to evaporate than regular leaves, defend the cactus against water-seeking animals. The flowers have large amount of stamen which is another important characteristic feature.
