Aquatic plants are distinctive species which only grow in water or permanently saturated soil. Some of them are afloat; some submerge in water while others have parts above and below the water. There are many aquatic plants native to Taiwan; they can be found in paddies, riversides or pools. Unfortunately, some of the species have become endangered due to rapid urbanization, chemical effluents, industrial pollution and river dredging. This garden displays a wide variety of endemic(local) species in Taiwan for sustainability and conservation.
